It is exciting to think that we practically breathe the same air that our accentors did. Time and again, the ebb and flow of the same waters are dictated by the moon. Unknowingly, we carry our ancestors’ memories within us. The earth is thus interwoven with our existence. Despite remarkable leaps in technology, we wonder how we can adapt to the constantly changing world. The inordinate stress we continue to inflict upon nature has led to a loss in the connection between man and nature. This makes us question the sustainability of our environment and the future of our planet.
The exhibition titled ‘The Earth in our Hands’ is an attempt to allow artists to reach out to society and direct public attention to the urgent task of preserving the natural environment. The collaborative energy of the collective has yielded a body of work that inspires hope. It’s not about just art, it is about life and the continuity of it. The exhibition showcases artworks of 21 artists from Chittagong.
